This item was hard to review because I can’t ask my dog for feedback, so I have to guess from her behavior. However, because my dog is terrified being sprayed by hoses and doesn’t mind wearing the vest, I can confidently say it was worthwhile in our situation. French bulldogs get hot easily so it’s important to keep them cool. We bought this vest because our frenchie hates hoses. Terrified of playing in water. Ultimately, I didn’t end up using this as much as I had hoped this summer. I had plenty of hot days but it was easier to hose the dog off in spite of her fear of the hose, or to just keep the walks short when it was really hot out. My dog seemed to get relief from the heat when wearing the vest, up until it dried out. It extended the range she was willing to walk significantly on the worst days of the summer. The included water bottle helped me maintain the temperature of the vest, but it gets used up quickly and it isn’t insulated much so the water didn’t stay cold very long while carrying it around in the hot sun. I wound up having to use the thermos I brought for my own drinking water if the walk was really long. She’s an active dog so that happened pretty regularly and then I needed a back pack to carry all that water. The jacket fit perfectly based on the measurement guide. It was a very sufficient harness. Light weight, cute as a button. The primary barrier to the jacket’s use was that it is a lot of extra work compared to just spraying my dog with the hose. We found it most useful when traveling due to lack of hose availability. It would be useful at the beach if our local beach was dog friendly (you can keep water in your cooler with ice).
